Ha Long Bay/Hanoi
Mystical limestone peaks rising above emerald waters
In northern Vietnam, Ha Long Bay is a wide bay of calm, green water filled with thousands of limestone islands and sheer rock formations.
Many of the cliffs are covered in vegetation, and mist often sits low around the peaks.
Boats drift between caves, hidden beaches and floating villages where people live and work on the water.
It feels remote, peaceful, and unlike anywhere else in the country.
