MSC and the Andrea Bocelli Foundation join forces for children in Haiti

MSC is proud to announce a new long-term corporate social responsibility initiative: our partnership with the Andrea Bocelli Foundation (ABF), established by the famous tenor Andrea Bocelli, acclaimed worldwide as one of the greatest exponents of the Italian vocal tradition.

The partnership is focused on ABF's life-changing projects in Haiti, one of the poorest countries in the world. MSC has worked closely with the ABF to identify, design and implement a long-term alliance that improves the conditions and provides an education for over 2,550 children living in some of the most disadvantaged communities of the country.

MSC is likewise supporting the crucial work of ABF's Mobile Clinic project, which delivers a free health care assistance and prevention programme that benefits over 8,000 people per year in the 5 poorest and most remote areas of the country. The medical staff provide comprehensive support, ranging from medical care, immunization for children aged 3 to 7, monitoring for malnutrition and screening for the most common systemic diseases, to health education and family consultations.

ABF's initiatives go beyond enabling Haitian children in their communities, also linking the communities to one another and the world through the Voices of Haiti choir. These 60 talented Haitian children aged between 6 and 14 not only go round the country, bringing music into the schools of the ABF and St. Luke Foundation, but also travel worldwide, giving performances that help renew and strengthen international interest in the challenges Haiti faces today. The choir performed at the naming ceremony of MSC Seaside in Miami on the 21 December 2017, with Andrea Bocelli himself leading them through renditions of Ave Maria and Amazing Grace.

MSC Seaside, home ported in Miami all year round, is collecting donations to support ABF’s extraordinary work in Haiti, as an expression of MSC's commitment to give something back to the areas where we operate. With MSC Seaside sleeping up to 5,300 guests, the big message is “together we can make a difference and bring hope home to Haiti”. We hope you'll join us when you are next on board MSC Seaside.
