Guest Safety Drills
Safety Drills and Briefings are held at the beginning of your cruise to ensure your familiarity with the safety equipment and evacuation procedures in case of an emergency. Their importance cannot be overemphasised.
Safety Drills are held upon embarkation from main cruise ports, while Safety Briefings are conducted for all newlyembarked guests joining the cruise in secondary ports. Safety Drills are carried out in one or more languages likely to be understood by guests and involve the entire crew and all the guests.
Since the aim of the drills is to practice the evacuation procedure, guests are asked to fetch their life jackets from their cabins and go to their assigned Muster/Assembly stations just as they would in an emergency. Once there, they receive additional safety instructions and information.
All MSC Cruises guests embarking in secondary cruise ports are likewise requested to attend a Safety Briefing. After fetching their life jackets from their cabins, these guests are asked to assemble in the ship’s largest Muster Station [AR-SI-LI-OP] / Assembly Station [PR-DI-SP-FA-MA-PO-OR-MU], where the main briefing takes place. Guests are then accompanied to their assigned Muster / Assembly Stations.
The Safety Briefings provide full information on the safety equipment and procedures, including the emergency evacuation procedure and the location of the Muster/Assembly Station assigned to each guest. Guests are informed of the schedule for the drills both in the daily program and over the ship’s public address system shortly before they are due to commence.
In addition to these Safety Drills and Briefings for our guests, the crew also conduct a general emergency drill twice a month, including a fire simulation, evacuation and abandon ship drill with lifeboats. This ensures they are fully prepared for any eventuality. All our Safety Briefings and Drills are fully compliant with the strict requirements of the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) developed by the International Maritime Organization (IMO).

Languages Spoken on Board
The company uses six main languages for its communications: English, Italian, German, French, Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese. The order in which these languages appear is determined exclusively by the number of guests in each language group as a proportion of our total guests.
The cabin information booklet and other printed material used on board are available in different versions for each of the six languages listed above. The order of the languages used in our menus changes depending on the area of the world in which each ship is located.
Each evening a detailed program for the following day will be delivered to your cabin. It contains full information on the activities and entertainment to be presented by the entertainment staff.
The Daily Specials section, delivered to your cabin each day, provides a guide to shopping on board, outlining the special offers and promotions available the following day.
Photo Gallery & Photo Shop
An on-board Photo Service is available throughout your cruise. Professional photographers will capture the highlights of your cruise both on board and ashore, and record anniversaries, and other special moments. You can view their work at your leisure in the Photo Gallery. The Photo Manager will also be happy to discuss any specific requirements you may have.
Our photographers can also create portraits of you and your family or friends using a variety of high quality studio backgrounds or setting up at key locations throughout the ship, such as the Grand Staircase. No appointment is required. All portraits will be displayed in the Photo Gallery and are available for you to purchase during the cruise.
Video Dvd Service
A dedicated team of skilled videographers is on hand to video special events during the cruise. They also accompany guests on excursions, capturing the memorable places visited on video. At the end of each cruise, the team produces a special video record of your cruise on DVD, which may be purchased at the Photo Gallery.
A wide range of products to satisfy all your photographic and video needs can be purchased in the Photo Gallery. As well as films, batteries, there is a wide selection of digital cameras and video cameras at duty free prices. Our photo team is available to offer advice, answer your questions and help you select the right equipment for your needs and budget.
Satellite Internet Access
If you are an avid Internet user, you can continue surfing the web during your cruise by connecting to the Internet with your laptop or PDA.
If you want to stay connected with your online world while at sea, you can continue surfing the web during your cruise by connecting to the Internet with your laptop or PDA.
Just connect to the ship’s network, available via a wireless connection almost everywhere on board (including all public areas). To access the service, just select the internet package that best suits your needs and it will be charged directly to your on-board account.
MSC uses sophisticated satellite systems to bring you a great internet experience at sea, relaying data from many thousands of miles above the Earth to reach you on board.
Although the technology is quite different from a broadband connection on land, Satellite Internet Access puts you at the heart of your online world in the middle of the sea.
We are continually reviewing and upgrading our Satellite Internet technology to provide you with the fastest, most consistent internet service possible during your cruise.
We have three great-value internet packages to choose from, each available on either a “per day” or a “per cruise” basis. Find out more
Your Cruise Card will also allow you to access the Internet. At the Internet Café you can stay connected with the world by using the Internet browser, just like you would at home.
The service is subject to the rates displayed on board. Internet performance onboard the Ship is not like a broadband connection ashore. It relies on satellite links and therefore may at times be significantly slower. It may also be interrupted by interference or bad weather conditions.
Sunbeds are available at no charge to Guests. They cannot be booked, and guests are kindly requested not to occupy deck-chairs and sunbeds with personal items during any long absences (more than 30 minutes). Beach towels are available in the cabins. These should be returned in cabins after use. Unreturned pool towels may be charged to the onboard accounts of guests.
The Exclusive Solarium on the top deck of each ship offers a private enclave of relaxation. Spa, jacuzzi and bar services are also provided in the Exclusive Solarium area on some ships.
On board payment
We have recently implemented a new Onboard Payment System on our fleet.
After embarking and collecting the Cruise Card from your cabin, You should activate it for onboard purchases by self-registering your credit/debit/prepaid card at one of the Cruise Card Activation Points
You can do this independently, at any time from embarkation until 11:00pm the following day, at any of the Cruise Card Activation Points located around the ship. These new devices let you register your card simply, rapidly and securely. Please note that you will be asked to enter the PIN number.
Alternatively, you can leave cash deposit at the Reception – Guest Service.
You can settle your final bill in any of the following three ways:
- by credit card
The following credit cards are accepted: Visa, , MasterCard, Diners, JCB, Discover and American Express.
If you choose to pay by credit card, your account will be closed automatically at the end of the cruise, so there is no need to go to the Reception – Guest Service.
- by debit or prepaid card
you should make sure that your debit/prepaid card is enabled for use abroad.
The following debit cards are accepted: Maestro, Visa Debit, Visa Electron, MasterCard debit
Any amount debited to your card and not spent during your cruise will be reimbursed in cash at the Reception - Guest Service on the final morning before disembarkation.
